In this show reel I have explored certain landscapes and forms of nature, specifically the seagulls which is used as a metaphorical representation of freedom in a documentary that I helped to film during the end of 2019,
This nature footage was shot in Veluwe Forest, Apeldoorn Holland, sea shots were shot at the ports of Dunkirk Belgium and more nature shots for example the opening shot was filmed in Epping Forest and the general area of Theydon Bois, Essex.
The camera used for this certain scenes was the Sony A6400, I also used a Ronin SC gimbal to help steady certain shots, this is due to my client and me sharing the idea on using alot of steady suttle movement in our shots.
I used a standard 16 to 35millimetre lens and stayed on the wide after both me and my DOP agreed on keeping all nature shots as wide as possible to help visually portray our narrative, inspirations were sourced from films such as Knight Of Cups and Tree of life filmed by Terrence Mallick who is well known for his extreme wide shots.
To summarise the Documentary filmed, the overall vison of the film was to portray the imbalance between city life and nature, I concentrated mostly on the nature shots which is mainly shown in this showreel
I was also very active within the editing side of the film specifically when it came to choosing the background music and finding the right music to sync with the sequence of shots.
This showreel features alot of shots from the Documentary and is available to watch it on YouTube. Inbalance https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=
